Newswriting is a 9th grade elective. All students taking the class are responsible for writing stories, conducting interviews, taking photos, designing pages, proofreading, and using computer programs. Participating students meet daily, since this is an elective class. Editors and business managers meet Tuesdays or one other day of the week and occassionally on Saturdays as well. All newswriting students go to a yearly field trip to a journalism convention. The requirements to take the School Newspaper class are a recommendation from the interested student's English teacher, a signed contract, and a writing sample.

The School Newspaper is published 6-8 times yearly.
