10/8-10/12: We are getting so many amazing submissions for the Lighthouse Logo Contest that Mrs. Lang's inbox is EXPLODING! While we appreciate the enthusiasm at AAJHS, let's review what we are looking for!

1) The submission MUST represent the Lighthouse Mission.  Think Leader in Me Habits, school, lighthouses, lighting the way kind of vibe.

2) This should include the words Lighthouse and AAJHS somewhere on the design.

3) This will be showcased on the Lighthouse Live Website.  You know when you open Google, and that website comes up with a lighthouse on it? That is where the design will be showcased for the ENTIRE world to see!  The site has gotten over 100,000 views, so please make sure you are submitting designs that would best represent AAJHS.

4) See the posters throughout the hallways to see how to submit your design.

Again, thank you to those who have already submitted.  PLEASE keep the submissions rolling in!

SPORTING NEWS

10/8: The 8th grade football team traveled to rival Hollidaysburg yesterday looking to get back on the winning track. The rivalry saw no points in the first quarter but then Altoona struck first with a perfectly timed screen play to bring the score to 6-0. Altoona received the ball to begin the second half and saw two huge catches to get them into scoring position. Hollidaysburg responded quickly and it looked like Altoona was in for a fight but Altoona ended up beating Hollidaysburg 30-20 and bringing their record to 4-0-1.

10/8: Yesterday at Roosevelt Field your 7th grade football team took on Mifflin County in a tightly contested game that ended in a 14-14 tie.  With under 2 minutes, Mifflin County tied the score.  The Mt Lion defense stuffed the 2 point try to keep the game tied at 14.  The Mountain lions got to the 5 yd line with one play left but fell just short on the winning pass.

Next week the 7th Grade team travels to Williamsport looking for a win in a rematch with the Millionaires.  Good luck boys.

10/8: The girls soccer team traveled to Somerset yesterday and came back with a 1-1 tie. Somerset scored first at the 10 minute mark of the second half. Altoona had a few more opportunities but could not capitalize. The girls are now 8-3-2. If you see them today, wish them good luck as they travel to BG.
