Deaf/Hard of Hearing Support Teacher
Mrs. Gutshall works with students with various degrees of hearing loss. She provides services in a wide range of areas including maintenance of hearing aids/FM systems, auditory skills, academic instruction in all subjects, and language expansion. Mrs. Gutshall travels to all the schools in the district to provide instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Mrs. Gutshall attended Pennsylvania State University. She graduated in 2008 with a Duel Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education, and a second certification in Early childhood education and child development. She also earned her Masters of Education Degree from Saint Joseph's University in 2012 in Special Education with a certification in English Language Learners (ELL) and Autism Spectrum Disorders. She is currently enrolled back at Saint Joseph’s University to complete her certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction.
Mrs. Gutshall is an AASD Alum and has been employed by the Altoona Area School District since 2009. She was married in 2008 and has 2 children . When she is not teaching, she enjoys outdoor activities, boating, baseball, and spending time with her family.
