About Mrs. Negri

My name is Makenzie Negri. I am currently an 8th-grade social studies teacher at Altoona Area Junior High School as well as the social studies instructor for the Altoona Cyber Academy.

I am an Altoona native and graduated from AAHS in 2011. I continued my studies at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where I earned my bachelor's degree in secondary social studies education in May of 2015. I am currently working on my master's of education degree from Wilson College.

This is the fifth year of my educational career. At AAJHS I have taught 9th-grade civics and 8th-grade early American history. At my former district, I taught 11th-grade American government and 9th-grade late American history at West York Area High School.

In addition to teaching, I coach junior high girls volleyball, basketball, and track & field. I also am one of the club advisors for the AAHS Mock Trial team.

Outside of AAJHS, I enjoy spending time with my husband John, our family, and friends. We are the two proud pet parents to our dog Hawk and kitten George. I also enjoy traveling, seeing musicals, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and visiting Walt Disney World!
