Drama Club

Advisor: Mrs. Hetrick

The drama club explores and teaches several aspects of theatre through games and activities at monthly meetings, as well as the production of two school shows: a fall play and a spring musical. Most recently, the club has presented shows like Mulan, JR, Robin Hood, Peter Pan, Jr., Crazytown, Singin' In The Rain, Jr., and Mary Poppins, Jr.
We also take a yearly trip to Pittsburgh (May 26, 2018) to see a professional show (Cinderella - 2018) at Heinz Hall. Not only is it a memorable experience, but it's also an opportunity to see a professional show live on stage. This gives students a chance to see the magical world of theatre firsthand.
Anyone is welcome to join the club. Students of all grades are encouraged to audition for the shows! If you're looking for a fun club to get involved in and a place where you can make all kinds of new friends, this is the place for you.
The drama club holds regular meets after school starting at 3:00 pm, and lasting anywhere from 5:00-6:00 pm. These meets teach students improv skills, as well as introduce them to the world of costuming, prop design, and set design. At the beginning of each meeting, the club members gather on stage and warm up for the night with a large selection of games and vocal exercises. Students are not required to be on stage for performances, as they have the choice to participate in backstage roles, such as lighting, set design, costuming, and stage managing.
Have questions or want to know how to join? You can email Mrs. Hetrick at ahetrick@altoonasd.com.
