Greetings! My name is Mrs. Harrington. I am currently an Instructional Coach at Altoona Area Junior High School. An Altoona native, I have been an Altoona Area School District student or employee for most of my life, other than the time I spent studying at Penn State University. The 2016-17 school year marks my eighteenth year teaching with the School District. My career began at Keith Junior High School as an English and drama teacher and continued with the construction of the "new junior high." Soon after, I became the English and World Languages Department Chairperson. Five years ago, my role changed to Instructional Coach, and I have been working on helping our teaching staff with their instructional practices ever since.
Outside of the world of education, I love spending time with my friends and family. Among my favorite activities is watching my children, Brooke and MJ, participate in sports and music. Soccer, football, basketball, and baseball have kept my family busy running from field to field to see the kids play, and now that my daughter has joined the chorus we look forward to great musical performances from AAJHS. I love reading and prefer a great book-to-movie title; shopping with my mom, Linda; and I take any opportunity I can to immerse myself in the arts - plays, concerts, and even movies. My best day would be described with my toes in the sand and the sound of the waves in the background vacationing somewhere warm and sunny. Living in Central PA, I've come to appreciate any warm, sunny day I can get!
